Chennai, Sep 28: Nadigar Sangam led by Sarathkumar had earlier filed a Rs10 crore defamation suit in relation to some comments made by the actor on a TV show that the organisation had taken offence to because they believed that the comments were untrue. The actor has retaliated by having his legal counsel take the necessary action.
Speaking about his reply to the suit, the actor said, "My advocate is sending a reply to the defamation case filed by Sarathkumar. The content of the case is that I have made allegations against him on a local TV channel (Thanthi TV) stating that irregularities have happened in the administration of the Nadigar Sangam. I think I have to go with the evidence i.e. the documents, and prove my point. I don’t know how it can be a defamation case because I have only stated the truth. That’s the honest reply. What I have said is what has taken place – it’s not my imagination or anything to tarnish his image."
Clarifying the facts, Vishal also told media persons that, "Sarathkumar is the President of Nadigar Sangam and thus, holds the responsibility of that position. We are not throwing allegations at Sarathkumar as an actor or as a human being. We are throwing allegations at Sarathkumar, the President of Nadigar Sangam. For instance, the Nadigar Sangam hasn’t filed income tax for five years – it’s his job as the Nadigar Sangam President to do the needful. They have demolished the Nadigar Sangam building without even getting an approval and leased out the land. Does he mean to say that the government is at fault or do I have the wrong evidence? Mr Poochi Murugan has already revealed all the evidence pointing to these facts."
Given that the Nadigar Sangam has its internal elections round the corner, the actor said that the youth who are involved with the sangam are eager to see and be a part of great changes and the first priority to get back the land that has been leased out by Sarathkumar.
