Udupi, Sep 26: Members of the town Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) paid homage to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya on his birth centenary at the party office in Kadiyali, Udupi, on Friday September 25.
MP Shobha Karandlaje offered flowers to his photo on the occasion.
Speaking at the programme, Karandlaje said, “He led the Bharatiya Janata Party after the death of Shyam Prasad Mukherjee. His principles are just alternate to capitalism and socialism. He was a simple personality, a good economist, and good propagator.”
Addressing the gathering, she said, “He had given his idea of ‘organic farming’ 50 years ago. He had believed that everyone should have work, all land should have water sources to cultivate and only then can a person become independent.”
“Nowadays, people are misusing their political power only for selfish reasons. But now, the government is following the ideology of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhayaya in many welfare schemes, by organizing training for skill development. Nearly 1, 500 beneficiaries have been marked for training across the nation,” said Karandlaje.
She added, “Dayal’s ideologies are based on nationalism but not dependent on caste or religion. The integration of the country’s development has been diminishing. Dayal’s thoughts are always relevant today.”
District party president Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde said, “The party is planning to organize a training programme for all party members about Dayal’s principles in every Mandala for two-days.”
Somashekhar Bhat, senior party leader, Naveen Kumar Kutyar, Sheela K Shetty, Veena Shetty, Geethanjali Suvarna and Sandhya Ramesh were present.
