Mangaluru, Sep 21: Senior Citizens Day was celebrated at Valencia Church on Sunday September 20.
The programme began with the Eucharistic celebration at 4.00 pm. Fr James D’Souza parish priest of Valencia was the main celebrant. Fr John D’Souza, resident of Vianny Home preached the homily and Fr William Baraccos concelebrated the mass. Before mass there were confessions for the senior citizens and during the mass sacrament of anointing of the sick was given to the sick people. Soon after the mass refreshments were served.
At 5.30 pm there was a get-together at the Golden Jubilee Hall. Fr Maxim Rosario, administrator of St Joseph Seminary, Fr James D’Souza parish priest, Fr Clifford Pinto asst parish priest, Arun Raj Rodrigues vice president of parish pastoral council and Leslie D’Souza secretary were present on the dais. Parish priest Fr James D’Souza welcomed the gathering.
YCS members performed the dance and entertained the gathering. Fr Maxim Rosario was the chief guest. In his speech, he narrated how senior citizens can spend their time and involve themselves in the parish activities. Arun Raj conducted the games while Janet Caldeira delivered the vote of thanks. Flavia Sequeira convened the program.
