Udupi, Sep 16: "Government Tool Room and Training Centre' (GTTC), has been sanctioned for Udupi district with the cost of Rs. 10 crore under NABARD programme. The center will be located near Government school Uppoor," said Satish Jarkiholi, Minister for Small Scale Industries in a press meet at DC office here on Tuesday, September 15.
He was speaking to media persons. He said that GTTC have been sanctioned to Udupi, Chitradurga, Yadagiri, Gokak and Koppala districts, namely . There are already 20 GTTC in the State. The admission is open for post metric students. Jarikiholi assured 100% job guarantee for students who completed GTTC course here.
There will three courses in the initial stage and seven courses will start later. It needs 10 acres for construction of industrial estates, but currently there is no government land in the district.
A new industrial policy of 2014-19 has been released, according to that 35% of subsidy on loan is available for self employment and 40% subsidy is available for women along with SC/STs.The total budget of this project is Rs 40 crore and Rs 10 crore has been already approved in first phase of installment.
The department has decided to conduct training programme on export in the district, like it held in Bengaluru. If the district authority provided appropriate facility, they will conduct export training programme within a year.
Chittaranjan Bhat, president of SSIs association said that generators are used now in industries due to lack of electricity supply. But they are imposing tax when it exceeds 250 KV.
