Moodbidri, Sep 15: Tejashree Sampat (32), employed in Kallamundkoor high school near here, lost her life in a road accident which occurred near Todankila bridge, Kallamundkoor, on Monday September 14. Tejashree, who was a past president of Devadigara Mahila Vedike here, in which capacity she had conducted memorable programmes, had suffered extensive injuries in the accident. She died while being taken to Mangaluru for advanced treatment. She was a native of the town.
Tejashree had married a person named Sampat, who is employed abroad. She has left behind three daughters one of whom is four years old, while the other two are primary school students. Before changing her job as first division clerk in Sarvodaya High School at Kallamundkoor last year, Tejashree was working for Jain PU College here. She was well-known for her positive attitude, active personality, and intelligence.
The accident occurred when Tejashree was moving towards Kallamundkoor after sending her children to school. The two-wheeler she was riding brushed against the right side of a bus coming from the opposite direction. She fell with somuch force that her helmet came off, and instantly, a pick-up truck following her dashed against her fallen vehicle. It is said that she was bleeding and writhing in pain for about 20 minutes at the spot where she had fallen, but none of the people in the crowd which gathered there or vehicles passing by that spot came forward to help her. Sometime later, Satish, a member of Kallamundkoor gram panchayat, who was passing by in a two-wheeler, summoned help in the form of Omni vehicle, in which Tejashree was provided treatment at a private hospital in the town. When being taken to Mangaluru for further treatment, she passed away,it is gathered.
Former union minister, M Veerappa Moily, convener of Sarvodaya High School, Kallamundkoor, Subhaschandra Padival, headmaster, Pashupathi Shastri, and several dignitaries and office bearers of organizations have mourned the untimely death of Tejashree.
