Mangaluru, Sep 10: 'Bequest-2015' a two-day inter-collegiate fest was inaugurated at the auditorium of Besant Women’s College by Renuka N Bangera, asst general manager, Karnataka Bank on September 10.
The event began with the invocation and lighting of the lamp.
Dr Sudha K, principal of Besant Women’s College welcomed the guests.
The theme of the event was 'vision 2020 Parivarthan – nayi disha ki or'. The theme was based on the inspiration of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam’s dream of developing India into a strong country by exercising youth power.
Speaking on the occasion Renuka N Bangera said, "I consider it a great opportunity to be part of the youth programmes, as youth play a vital role in the country's destiny. A P J had a unique vision for the country. Students need to take part in extra curricular activities and should not become bookworms. All-rounders always leave a mark evrywhere they go. Events like Bequest-2015 enable students to build up contacts. Extra curricular activities help students to build a strong team spirit, expose their real talents and develop concentration."
In his presidential address Kudpi Jagadish Shenoy, president of Women’s National Education Society said, "I am very happy that Besant Women’s College is organizing Bequest-2015. It gives an opportunity for the students of the college to compete with other colleges thereby giving them the opportunity of bringing honour to the college by winning competitions. I wish all the participants success and good luck."
Competitions like ice breaker, best manager, human resource, marketing and finance, caricature, radio jockey, clay modeling, collage making, banner making, Kalam Chitra Darshan (drawing), role play etc will be organized on the two days.
