Madikeri, Sep 8: K Sabu Nanaiah (64) from Kongna village in B Shettigeri in the district, who was active in cooperative sector, was killed by the bullets fired by unknown assassins. It is said that bullets were rained on him by a gang when he was going to his coffee plant in Konagana village in his scooter at around 8.30 am on Monday September 7.
Property dispute is guessed to be behind this barbaric act. Nanaiah collapsed to the ground on the spot after having been hit by bullets, and the miscreants fled from the scene. It is said that Sabu and his brothers were involved with differences over property. But police investigation alone can bring out the truth.
Gonikoppal police circle inspector, Raju and police sub-inspector, Mahesh, visited the spot and guided investigations.
Sabu Nanaiah had functioned as the director of Kodagu District Cooperative Union and Virajpet Taluk PACARD Bank. Various leaders and heads of institutions and organizations have grieved his death.
