Mangalore, Jun 27: Death of two senior officials in the Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF) Ltd was due to the negligence of the company in adopting sufficient safety and precautionary measures, said Indian Trade Union Congress (INTUC) general secretary N M Adyantaya here on Tuesday June 26.

Addressing press persons he said that if proper measures had been taken the accident could have been avoided and the deaths of the two senior officials would not have happened if appropriate safety measures had been taken.

Adyantaya alleged that compensation had not yet been distributed to the families of four labourers who were killed at the accident that took place in February 9, 2000 at the industry. Moreover, the workers who had been injured in the incident had been sent home on the pretext of voluntary retirement, he said.
