Sep 2 (Mumbai Mirror): After being booked for alleged dowry-related harassment, the controversial spiritual guru Sukhwinder Kaur alias Radhe Maa has courted yet another controversy as a well-known television actress has accused Kaur of molesting and threatening her, and indulging in obscenity during her meetings with followers.
The Mumbai police have booked Kaur and 19 of her followers, including her close aides - Sanjeev Gupta, Chotti Maa and Talli Baba - of sexual harassment, criminal intimidation and various other charges. The police said that they have registered an FIR on a complaint submitted by the actress, who was earlier a disciple of Kaur, and further investigation is underway.
Speaking to Mirror, the 54-year-old actress, who has acted in films and popular TV shows including Big Boss, said that she was a follower of Radhe Maa but learnt the truth about the self-proclaimed godwoman when she visited her residence, Radhe Maa Bhavan, in Borivali in 2013.
"During one of the fortnightly meetings with her followers, Kaur and others indulged in obscenity. They sexually harassed me and later threatened me with dire consequences if I revealed what I went through. Since they are influential people with a lot of money and muscle power, I was afraid to speak up until I got the courage through Nikki Gupta, who recently accused Kaur of harassment and cruelty," said the complainant. She added that this is only her first complaint against Kaur and she will soon lodge another complaint against her for practising black magic.
In her complaint, the actress said that Kaur and her followers repeatedly touched her inappropriately, and danced naked in front of her. She also alleged that they insulted and intimidated her, and also conspired against her. She also submitted an audio recording in which one of Kaur's disciples can allegedly be heard threatening her. The police have booked Kaur and 19 others under IPC sections 354, 294, 504, 109, 506 (2) and 120B at the Borivali police station.
Meanwhile, Gupta, who claims to be Kaur's spokesperson, said that he is not aware of the FIR and would comment only after getting details. He had earlier said that all charges against Kaur are false and fabricated. "People with vested interests are complaining against Maa with malicious intent but we are confident she will be acquitted of all charges. We have never ever indulged in any sort of obscenity," he had said. After the previous FIR was registered against her, Kaur had said that she was "pure and pious" and had never hurt anyone.
