Mangalore, Jun 24: Dalita Hita Rakshana Vedike urged the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to find a permanent solution to the sea erosion problem, said the Vedike President Rohit Ullal here, on Saturday June 23.

Addressing the media, Rohit stated that sea erosion in Ullal and other place is a common phenomenon during the monsoon every year. Unfortunately no permanent solution is found to control this; instead every year government sanctions crores of rupees, ministers visit the sites and give false assurances and boulders are dumped. All these efforts of the government are in vain unless a permanent solution is found, he averred.

According to him, sea walls to prevent the sea erosion need to be constructed, simple sand bags used instead of quality materials, which are incapable of sustaining huge waves. Rohith questioned the government, wondering why government could not construct a strong wall of 300-metre height as a long term solution. Further he alleged that the compensation package declared by the government too did not reach the victims.

Social Life and Human Rights Organization D K district president Susheela Adyanthaya, Dalita Sangarsha Samiti district co-coordinator S P Anand and Dalita Hita Rakshana Samiti women's wing coordinator Indira Nagesh were present on this occasion.
