Man found dead in open drain at Kolnad, murder suspected

Mangaluru, Aug 21: In a suspected case of murder, the body of a man was found in an open drain in a private property next to the national highway near Kolnad here on Friday August 21.

The deceased has been identified as Yellappa (24) from Bijapur. He was working as a security guard in a building at Mallikatta.

It is said that on August 19 he said he left from home saying he was going to Udupi, but did not return. His wife had filed a complaint in this regard. Sources said that Yellappa was also mentally unstable.

The property in which the body was found belongs to one Giridhar Shetty. The area is sparsely populated.

It is suspected that the man was murdered, and his neck was tied to a rope suspended from a tree to give it the appearance of suicide, and then thrown into the drain.

The dead man's shirt was soaked in blood, which gave rise to the murder theory.

The man might have died about two days ago, it is supected.

Mulky police arrived at the spot and investigated.

    When we were passing through this area near Kolnad to Airport, odor smell was unbearable even sitting inside the AC vehicle. My kids were asking about this bad smell, but we just explained them that fish transporters are discharging the fishery cold storage water in that area. In deed smell was not like fishery water but who knows may be smell was originated from this dead body!!!!!

    Murders ,thefts have become quite common in our districts now a days. Its failure on part of police to get criminals get convicted and failure on part of govt to get adequate jobs for the young.No fear of law and no income to sustain poverty are drawing young people towards crime.

    Similar to a auto rickshaw case, no doubt that it is a clear cut murder. The rope used is a very thin and no person will die, instead the rope will get cut due to body weight when he is hanging.

    clues for investigation

    1) Search for the similar type of rope in the surrounding areas which was tied to his neck and continue the investigation.

    2)I doubt his wife. instead of searching for him, how she lodges a missing case in the police station on the same day. First anybody will search and finally complaint. But, in this case from the daijee report it is understood that she filed a complaint immediately. That means she knows that her husband has been murdered.

    3) Third is the owner/ contractor of the building where he was working as security guard. May be due to some disputes/ quarrel during duty hours ended up with a brutal murder.

    4)In the crowd/ photographs taken I could see one lady with black choodydar is present. Who is she..??

    5)Find out who is there in Udupi, because on Aug 19th he said that he is going to Udupi. Whose statement is this..?? whether his wife or co-worker who said he went to Udupi..?? Investigate deep into this, Police may get some clues.

    Poor man died. Let his soul rest in Peace.
