Valencia, Aug 19 (IANS/EFE): Turkish club Fenerbahce acknowledged talks with regard to signing Valencia's Algerian winger Sofiane Feghouli, but denied reaching any agreement with the Spanish club.
The Istanbul team confirmed through a statement issued on Tuesday that it has been in contact with the player, but denied reports circulated by several Turkish media outlets that insisted a final agreement for the player's move was already reached.
The statement noted that UEFA prohibits negotiating with any player who is contractually-bound for at least six months, and Feghouli is committed to Valencia until June 2016.
The Spanish club started talks with the player's agent a few months ago to extend his contract, but no agreement has since been reached.
Feghouli will be free to sign with any club starting next January.
