Mangaluru, Aug 3: 'Education for all’ the charity initiative by Heba Abdulla in association with Rotary Club of Mangalore has upgraded the computer lab at the Rotary Navachetana English medium school. This upgrade was a result of the ‘Choose to Make a Difference’ charity piano concert that was performed by Heba Abdulla and Adam Abdulla on July 26 at Moti Mahal in Mangaluru.
The upgrade included 9 brand new computers of which 6 of them were funded from the Rs.1.5 Lac raised from the charity piano concert and 3 of them were funded by Rotary club of Managaluru. In addition an external DVD writer was provided and few of the old non-working computers will be re-sold to raise money for a printer. Alpha Systems who is maintaining the systems has provided a computer to the lab. In addition to providing the computers Rotarian Chethan Suvarna has come forward and donated an air conditioner to the computer lab.
The official handing over of the computers was done on July 31 at the school with small ceremony that was presided over by Yathish Baikampady, the president and Divakar Pai, the secretary of Rotary Club of Mangaluru. Present were also senior Rotarians, head mistress Satya Sheela and the faculty of the school. Rotarian Prakash Kalbhavi,the board member of the school addressed the gathering. Heba Abdulla and Adam Abdulla did the official handing over of the computers.
“When we planned this piano concert we were hoping to provide about 3 to 4 computers, we did not expect the event to be such a success. I am extremely pleased that we were able to fully upgrade the lab with 10 computers and an air conditioner. Thanks to everyone who helped make this happen”, said Heba Abdulla.
“I am happy about Heba and Adam and I feel they are a gift to the society whose actions to raise money is helping the school to come at par with other schools in town with best of facilities,” said Yathish Baikampadi.
