Mangaluru, Jul 30: The owner of a bakery at Mastikatte in Ullal near here was brutally stabbed by a group of four masked men late night on Wednesday July 29.

Abdul Salam (30), owner of Sweet Bakert at Mastikatte, was allegedlly attacked by Fayaz, a notorious criminal accused in several cases, and his three accomplices.

Salam was in his bakery when the gang of four barged in and attacked him brutally with sharp weapons on the neck, hands and stomach. They then fled the spot.

A critically injured Salam was taken to a private hospital in Thokkottu and then shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

Fayaz is an accused in over 10 cases, including in the murder of Kanchan Textiles manager. He along with Haris, a resident of Ullal and two others allegedly carried out the attack on Salam.

It is said that Salam had complained to the police against Fayaz and gang as they were allegedly harassing him as well as other people in the vicinity. Fayaz had allegedly threatened and warned Salam over this. The attack on Salam was a result of the grudge Fayaz harboured against him, sources said.

Given the recent incidents of stabbing in Ullal and Konaje areas, the attack on the bakery owner created tense atmosphere in Mastikatte for sometime. However, as personal rivalry was said to be the cause this time, the situation was well under control.

Higher police officers visited the spot. Ullal police are invesigating.

When Police take strict action against criminals, Ministers/MLAs and people should support the Police. This will encourage them to act further.

But, Minister/MLA from Mangalore and the like minded people support thieves and harassed Navin Naik for encountering cow thief.

They made the Govt. to pay huge money to the thief.

Under such circumstances, you do not have the right to blame the Police for inaction.

This type of situation is the reason for increased criminal activity in Dakshina Kannada.

In the next election we should defeat the present communal representatives and elect right candidates who encourage upright police and protect common man.

    shahil,

case is not so simple. if police take a strict action against this kind of criminals then there is a pressure from political level & other organisations. please remember the attack on tollgate. to whom we can blame. this is the known fact.
