Mangaluru, Jul 29: A police team led by Bantwal rural police sub-inspector, Rakshit A K, arrested a person facing charges in a murder case, when he was trying to fly to a foreign country with the help of a fake passport. The arrest was made from the international airport here on Tuesday July 28.

The arrested person has been identified as Haneef alias Chotte Haneef (33), a resident of Maripalla village.
Haneef is said to be one of the the main accused in the murder of Rifai, an auto rickshaw driver from Maripalla. He was arrested and then released after he succeeded in procuring conditional bail from the state high court.
On Tuesday, airport officials stopped him when he tried to go to a foreign country, and turned him in to Bantwal rural police station. It is gathered that he had got done a fake passport in his name in 2008 by providing a fake address of Mysuru.
He was making efforts to flee from the clutches of law by using this passport. The police, who took him into custody, produced him in the court, whereupon he was remanded to judicial custody.
