Udupi: ICYM Moodubelle organizes Yuva Sangam

Udupi, Jul 29: Udupi deanery under the leadership of ICYM Moodubelle organized 'Yuva Sangam 2015' at St Lawrence Church Hall in their vicinity on Sunday July 26.














































Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop, diocese of Udupi, presided over the inaugural program. Norbert Lobo, HOD of economics department, St Aloysius College Mangaluru, Fr Clement Mascarenhas parish priest and director of ICYM unit Moodubelle, Fr Reginald Pinto, director of Samapda, diocese of Udupi, Fr Victor, assistant parish priest, Fr Royson Fernandes, ICYM director Udupi deanery, Fr Edwin D’souza director, youth commission Udupi diocese, Wilfred Lewis,animator ICYM Udupi deanery, Joseph Martis, president of youth commission Moodubelle unit, Vincent Fernandes and Rovita Fernandes unit animator, Alphonse Alva vice president, pastoral council of parish Latha Dmello secretary, pastoral council, Alwyn Danthy, resource person, Idving Soares, president ICYM Udupi deanery, Felina D’souza, secretary, unit and Udupi deanery, Nevil Fernandes president of ICYM Moodubelle unit were present at the occasion.

The program commenced with a prayer song and welcome by the Moodubelle unit president Nevil. The program was then formally inaugurated by Bishop Gerald Lobo along with the other dignitaries by lighting of the lamp.

Norbert Lobo who is also a parishioner of Moodubelle was felicitated and honored for his contribution and success in the field of education by the bishop. Eva Martis of Moodubelle gave a brief introduction of Lobo.

In his address Lobo was grateful to receive the felicitation by the bishop himself and asked the youth to be committed and to show love in the work they do towards for society. He also asked them to overcome all disturbances that come in their path with proper use of all resources and facilities with them. At the same time he acknowledged being the past ICYM president of Moodubelle.

Our beloved bishop revised and stressed upon the 5 golden objectives proposed for the ICYM youth. They asked the youth to grab hold of all opportunities they get not only inside the church but also for the outer world to shine.

On this occasion Hazel Martis of Moodubelle was felicitated by the bishop on being the president of YCS at the Karnataka region

Sara D’souza proposed the vote of thanks for all the dignitaries on the dais, Ancita d’souza was master of ceremony.

Alwyn Danthy gave a talk on the theme ‘The purpose and aim of life’ with special reference to the youth.
Mass began at 12 noon. The main celebrant was Fr Fred Mascarenhas. The homily was delivered by Fr Reginald Pinto along with the presence of Fr Clement.

After lunch, the afternoon session began with games and all the fun activities were conducted by Norbert Misquith, Mangaluru, assisted by the youth of central council Udupi.

The valedictory function was presided by Fr Fred Mascarenhas, dean of Udupi deanery. While Fr Clement Mascarenhas, Fr Alban (the former director of Udupi deanery) Fr Royston Fernandes, Wilfred Lewis, Walter, animator youth commission Udupi were present on the dais.

Fr Alban was felicitated by Fr Fred for their selfless contribution during the past three years as director of Udupi deanery. A brief introduction of Fr Alban was given by Anthony Mendonca. Fr Alban gave a short message regarding his experience as the director.

Fr Clement thanked the president and the youth of Moodubelle for taking up the leadership and all the handwork they had put up for this particular event. The former president Don d’souza and former secretary Samantha Alva where also felicitated for their contribution towards the ICYM.

Seven talented ICYM members in academics, sports and culture from different parishes were also honoured. These meritorious members were: Elvira Jenisha Machado of Katapadi who scored 94 percent marks in second PUC science and presently studying computer engineering in Bantakal Engineering College, Vionna Jeshal Gomes of Perampalli who scored 93 percent in BCA and is presently seeking admission to MCA at MIT, Manipal, Teena Frezil Mendonca of Kuntalnagar who participated in the Karnataka State level volleyball competition and is presently studying at PPC College Udupi, Suzan Meelinda D’souza of Kuntalnagar also participated in the Karnataka State level volleyball competition and continues her studies in BCom at Madhav Pai Memorial College, Udupi, Deena Anitha Quadras of Kalmady who has been participating and winning prizes in elocution competitions conducted by the Catholic Sabha and presently studying MCom at Women’s College, Ajjarakadu Udupi, Ancilla Maria Saldanha of Udupi who scored 92 percent in Second Year PUC Science. She participated four times in the national level badminton tournament and is presently pursuing BSc at MGM College, Udupi; and Ashmitha Rebello of Udyavar who has been participating in volleyball, table tennis and athletics competitions and has participated in state level competitions. She was also captain of Mangaluru University table tennis team. Presently she is preparing for admission for an MBA course.

The presidents of each of the seven parishes were given a token of love and the seven talented youth of the different parishes where honored for their achievements by Fr Fred.

Fr Fred congratulated all the achievers and asked the youth not to build up good physical health only but also to have good spiritual and mental health as well. He asked the youth to lead a true life imbibing the teachings of the Lord Jesus.

Felina proposed the vote of thanks, Idving welcomed the dignitaries. Oniel Andrade compered the valedictory program. Nearly 150 youth from 7 parishes took part in the sangam. The get together concluded with the ICYM theme song.
