Udupi, Jul 27: Rubik's Cube expert and author of ‘Rubik Magic’, Prithveesh K has made a name for himself by participating in various Rubik Cube state-level competitions.

He is the son of Shyamprasad Bhat and Prasanna Prasad hailing from Cherkady village. Currently, he is pursuing his fifth semester in engineering at SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire.

Prithveesh has toyed with the Cube since he was eight months old. He has conducted workshops in Mangaluru, Shringeri, Ujire, and Cherkady besides writing ‘Rubik Magic’ at 20 years of age, which was released by Padmavibhushan Veerendra Heggade recently.

Speaking at a press meet on Monday July 27, he said, “Rubik helps improve brain-hand-eye coordination, concentration level and memory power. I would like to help rural children to take advantage of this. Nearly 95 percent of results are obtained in workshops conducted for slow learners. I would like to enrich the intelligent quotient (IQ) level of poor learners.”

Gopadkar, manager, Swaroopa Study Centre, Mangaluru, appreciated his amazing work and obtained good results from his workshop.

His parents and his younger brother Pradeesh K, a contestant on ‘Kannada dancing reality show ‘Putani Pantru’ support his noble work.

Prithveesh aims to complete this puzzle with closed eyes and wants to continue his research on brain storming activity. He is involved in many sports activities and has won four national-level prizes in Budokan karate besides excelling at drawing and painting.

There are 3,000 varieties of the puzzle cube and Prithveesh knows 13 of these. He broke his own record in 38 seconds in a competition at Mangaluru. Collin Burns achieved a world record in just 5.05 seconds while Tony Fisher is the only man who knows all types of Rubik’s puzzles.
