Beltangady, Jul 26: Two doctors, who studied at SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, Ujire have been selected to serve at the Ayush Wellness Clinic at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, which was inaugurated on Saturday July 25.
President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday inaugurated the new Ayush Wellness Clinic (AWC) to mark the completion of the third year of his presidency. A dilapidated building in the president's estate was renovated and converted into the AWC. The work of renovation was started on March 30 and completed on July 24.
Among the doctors who would be serving at the AWC are Dr Vikram Pai from Udupi and Dr Divya Saraswat, originally from UP.
Dr Vikram would be serving there for the next one year, after which, based on the people's response to the Clinic, it would be decided whether to continue it or not.
Dr Vikram, son of yoga teacher B C Pai and Radhika Pai, hails from Karkala and is a resident of Doddanagudde in Udupi. He did his PUC and bachelors in naturopathy and yoga at SDM College, Ujire.
"I am extremely happy that I will be working at the Ayush Clinic in Rashtrapati Bhavan. It is because of my college that I am able to achieve this," Dr Vikram said.
Dr Vikram finished his studies in 2006 and thereafter he served in the Central Council for Research in Yoga. It is through this Centre that the AWC was established in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Four doctors including Dr Vikram Pai and Dr Divya were reccommended for job.
Dr Divya hails from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, and is presently staying in Delhi with her husband. She was a student of batch 12 of SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences.
Dr Ishwar Acharya from Panja, Subramanya is currently the director of Central Council for Research in Yoga & Naturopathy. He was present during the inauguration of Ayush Wellness Clinic at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He was a student of the second batch of SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences.
