Udupi, Jul 25: “Both BJP and Congress government are the two faces of a coin in terms of corruption as well as in the economics they promote,” said G V Srirama Reddy, state secretary, CPI (M), at the political convention held at Narayana Guru temple, Bannanje here on Thursday July 23.
He added that the CPI (M) will be organizing a campaign in three phases from Saturday August 1 to Friday August 14. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given two promises in Mathura when he became PM. Firstly he said he will bring changes in the economic and political system. Secondly, he will make India a corruption-free nation. But, all promises have become lies and remained just words,” said Reddy.
He alleged that the BJP is looting the nation’s wealth. “Chief minister of Rajasthan Vasundara Raje and foreign affairs minister Sushma Swaraj are the two ministers playing a crucial role in the corrupt administration. Modi does take action against IPL accused Lalit Modi and Pankaja Munde of Maharashtra. When Manmohan Singh was in power, the opposition party forced him to speak out, but now Modi is doing the same thing,” he said.
“The central government is trying to close down all the scams by using new tricks. A systematic political conspiracy is going on between political powers. Karnataka state is least bothered about income of the family and standard of living of the state. Agricultural development and the industrial sector are on the decline. Without output how can a state develop?” queried Reddy.
He further said that the land acquisition ordinance is another curse to the capital market development. “Our central government is promoting corporates instead of the nation’s entrepreneurs. Nearly 12,40,000 applications are pending under the land acquisition clarification while 6, 60, 000 applications are not yet settled, and 23, 000 poor families are still farming in the government lands,” said Reddy.
Regarding Justice Bhaskar Rao’s case, he said, “CM Siddaramaiah is not ready to hand over the case for a CBI probe. Udupi Pejawar Math seer Vishweshatheertha Swami is also supporting and justifying his activities.”
He said the whole economic policy should be changed and only then will the nation develop gradually.
Udupi district CPI (M) secretary Balakrishna said that the members will stage a Dharna on August 14 at night commemorating the war before Independence Day. District CPI (M) president K Shankar, Kaviraj, Suresh Kalla Rao, and Mahabala were present.
