Mangaluru, Jul 24: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, A B Ibrahim, said that sale and use of national flags made of plastic stand banned on all days including Independence Day.
He was speaking after presiding over a meeting convened at the auditorium of the office of the deputy commissioner relating to preliminary preparations concerning Independence Day celebrations on Thursday July 23.
'This year, the district level Independence Day programme will be held at Nehru Maidan. The district in-charge minister will unfurl the tricolour at 9 am on August 15. After the parade by police, NCC and Sevadal contingents, the minister will deliver Indpendence Day message,' he explained.
He explained that it is mandatory for government employees to take part in the programme. He asked members of the public too to participate in the programme in large numbers. In the evening, cultural programmes will be presented at Gorakshanatha Halla t Kadri, he added.
Acting city corporation commissioner, Gokuldas Nayak, president of the district Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Pradeep Kumar kalkura, and others were present.
