Moodbidri, Jul 23: The body of a coolie, who had gone missing from his residence in Maroor village near here on the night of Sunday, was found from River Phalguni on Wednesday July 22 evening.
The diseased has been identified as Subba (50) from Maroor. He was unmarried. It is gathered that since sometime, he had been bothered by a spate of illnesses. Perhaps for this reason, he went away from home on Sunday night without informing other family members. A missing case was thereafter filed at the police station here by his close ones who were perturbed over Subba's disappearance.
Subba's family members, who were continuing with their efforts to locate him, found his body which had got stuck between boulders inside River Phalguni at Nettodi Bolleru. Fire brigade personnel worked with locals, Harish, Girish, Sridhar, Raju, Surendra and Bhaskar Acharya, to retrieve the body.
In a report filed in the police station, Ramesh, nephew of Subba, guessed that his maternal uncle would have decided to jump into the river to kill himself, having been frustrated by his ill health.
