Working with Soumitra Chatterjee 'fangirl moment' for Radhika Apte

Mumbai, July 22 (IANS): "Kahaani" director Sujoy Ghosh's Bengali short film "Ahalya" gave actress Radhika Apte the opportunity to work with veteran Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee, which she described as a "fangirl moment".

"I've been his (Chatterjee) fan since my college days, when I saw his films at a Satyajit Ray film festival. Since then, I've always been in awe and never thought that I'll be able to work with him," Radhika said.

"I got the opportunity a couple of years ago to work with him in a Bengali film. I thought that was my one and only opportunity. But this time ('Ahalya'), we were friends since we already knew each other having worked together. And I wasn't nervous at all. So it was a fangirl moment for me," she said at a special screening of "Masaan".

Radhika and Chatterjee had earlier worked together in Bengali movie "Rupkatha Noy".

She also said she was impressed with director Sujoy Ghosh. "Sujoy is such a good director and story-teller. I hope to work with him more."

The story of "Ahalya" is reportedly inspired from the character Ahalya in Hindu mythology. Ahalya was the most beautiful woman in the world but was cursed by her husband for cheating on him.
