Kundapur, Jul 21: A lorry plying from Byndoor to Kundapur in an attempt to overtake a car in front, hit it from behind and collided with a 407 tempo approaching from the opposite direction at Mullikatte national highway here on Monday afternoon, July 20.
The tempo driver, Tallur Sabladi resident Narasimha Mogaveera(39) was seriously injured in the accident and has been admitted to hospital.
The goods laden lorry plying from Byndoor to Kundapur and the wagon R car reached Mullikatte when the driver of the lorry in an attempt to overtake the car, hit the car and also the tempo 407 approaching from Kundapur to Byndoor. The car toppled in the impact on the road and the front portion of the tempo was also completely damaged. While seriously injured tempo driver was admitted to the hospital, the travellers in the car have miraculously escaped unhurt.
The accident caused traffic jam for over one and half hours. Later the car and the tempo were taken away with the help of a crane.
Gangolli SI Subbanna and traffic policemen arrived and conducted investigation.
A police case has been registered at Gangolli police station.
