Puttur, Jul 17: Binoy (35), a civil engineer residing at Kutruppady near Kadaba in the taluk was killed after the motor bike he was riding collided with a Xylo car that was moving towards Mangaluru from Subrahmanya. The accident occurred at Kemmar on Uppinaangady-Kadaba state highway on Thursday July 16 evening.
Binoy has left behind his wife, who is employed in a foreign country, and a son. It is gathered that those in the car were travelling to Mangaluru after visiting Subrahmanya from Bengaluru. As the vehicles were at high speed during the collision, the motor bike was badly mangled in the accident, killing its rider instantly. Although 108 ambulance was summoned and it arrived soon, the bike rider had breathed his last by then.
The deceased used to executive civil contract works. He had been elected as secretary designate of Kadaba Rotary Club. He was involved with a number social initiatives at Kadaba.
When the driver and passengers of the car argued that they were not at fault, the people who had gathered there expressed anger and were about to attack the car driver. They also complained about delayed arrival of the police. When the Kadaba special tahsildar, who was moving to Kadaba from Uppinangady, stopped his vehicle upon seeing a crowd having gathered there to check, people also got engaged in heated exchagnge of words with him.
Uppinangady police arrived on the spot and controlled the situation. A case was registered in the traffic police station here relating to this accident.
