Madrid, July 8 (IANS): Real Madrid on Wednesday announced that defender Dani Carvajal has signed a new contract that binds him to the Spanish football giants until June 2020.
The Spain international still had four years to run on his previous deal with Real, though some doubt had been cast on his future following the capital club's acquisition of Brazil right-back Danilo from Porto, reports goal.com.
However, Carvajal has now decided to commit himself to Real for an additional 12 months.
The 23-year-old came through the youth team ranks at Real and starred for the club's B team before moving to Bayer Leverkusen in 2012.
Madrid, though, put a buy-back clause in Carvajal's contract with the German side and in 2013 enacted their right to re-sign him for an estimated 6.5 million euros for six years after a stellar debut season in Germany.
He has since become a regular in the Real starting line-up and was a part of the team that won both the Copa del Rey and the Champions League in 2014.
