MTHH: The tragicomedy that failed to hit the bull's eye (or the buffalo's eye)

Mumbai, Jun 26: An entire movie that revolved around the rape of a buffalo, and was intended to be bring to light a slightly tragic story in a humorous light seems to have missed the mark as the audiences did not seem amused.

The buffalo that wins a 'beauty contest' gets raped by a village youth, and her owner who wields a substantial amount of influence in the village, demands justice for her. Said to be based on a true story that took place in Rajasthan a while ago, the movie did not deliver to the expectations that the trailer of movie had promised.

Harshita Bhatt (Maya) is the younger wife of the village head, Annu Kapoor (Pradhan Saulal), who is far ahead of her in age.
She is seen dallying with a youth Arjun (Rahul Bagga, who in his attempt to not get caught with her finds himself accused of bestiality. It is a well thought plan by Saulal, Maya's husband to exact his revenge against Arjun. Saulal enlists the help of his henchmen as well as the bribes the cops to get his vengeance.

Touted to be a satirical take on the Khap panchayats and their inane rulings, the movie does reflect the helplessness of the family of the falsely accused Arjun, when confronted with, corruption, politics and money power. The movie lacks the seriousness that is the core of good comedy and more so in the case of satire. It brays on the oft repeated jokes on breasts, toilet humour and a fair share of sexist jokes on rape itself.
