Mumbai, Jun 26 (IANS): The recent 3D film "Any Body Can Dance 2" stormed the box office but "Baahubali" director S.S. Rajamouli says he is not a fan of the innovative technology.
"I'm not a big fan of the 3D format. 'Baahubali' is all about scale. 3D gives you scale but reduces the depth. I want my characters and visuals to be big and that's why I've shot in the 16:9 format," Rajamouli told the media on Thursday at an event to launch another song of his film.
"In some theatres which have bigger screens, you'll be able to see a bigger picture than the normal cinemascope formats," he said.
None of the director's earlier films was in 3D, though there was a lot of buzz about Eega's dubbed version "Makkhi" being released in 3D.
"Baahubali" starring Prabhas Raju, Tamannaah Bhatia, Anushka Shetty and Rana Daggubatti among others is all set to release on July 10.
