Mangaluru, Jun 25: Members of the district unit of Karnataka State Licensed Electrical Contractors’ Association staged a protest infront of Deputy Commissioner's office on June 25.
Addressing the protestors Urban Pinto president of district unit of Karnataka State Licensed Electrical Contractors’ Association said, "The reason for calling the protest is the long-term tenders of huge value are given to 30 big contractors but our Association has 30000 members who run their family on the living of short term tenders from the past five years. District unit of Karnataka State Licensed Electrical Contractors’ Association stongly protests againt the government's decision."
"The Licensed Electrical Contractors have been giving the serivce to the people with 10% to 20% margin, we are protesting but still last week 600-700 electrical poles had fallen due to heavy rain and wind but still we fixed the problem as we do not want to create a problem to the people. We have already submitted the memorandum in the past but there was no response. Today we are submitting one more memorandum to Deputy Commissioner and we expect that government will respond and fullfil the
demands by June 30. If they fail we will stop all the works in the coming days to come." Pinto added.
The district unit of Karnataka State Licensed Electrical Contractors’ Association also organized a protest march from town hall to DC office.
H Sundar Gowda vice-president, Chethan Malya secretary of district unit of Karnataka State Licensed Electrical Contractors’ Association and others were present.
