A very noble act indeed by the Aloysians / Agnesians, Congratulations. However, the organizers please take note of the comments made by Royston and Lydia Pinto and do a little more to identify at least a few of the needy, brilliant (90%plus), yet financially poor youngsters who are literally ignored by these institutions. Sorry for being harsh, but it is a fact.

I am sure the amount donated might be used for a good cause other then infrastructure, but after gathering correct information it is learnt that none of the alma mater amount has been used for the poor and needy students, so I wish these two instiutions should instead start a fund to help the poor and deserving students of in and around Mangalore which will go a long way. Thank You

    Dear Roystan & Lydia,

I have noted the points U have raised in your comments. Before retiring from Abu Dhabi we used to attend the Aloysian & Agnesian get together in UAE. Me studied in St. Aloysias for one year in PUC & my wife studied in St. Agnes for her 4 years for Degree, I used to offer some compliments, giveaways & even our Airline tickets to the winners during our get together. Regarding your comments I will speak to my friend Wilson, one of the organiser in Dubai. In the mean time I thank all the organisers, participants & their contributions to our respective colleges. God bless U all.

Mr. Jacobb Mendonca & all Aloysians/Agnesinas team members,

I will be an utter outsider to comment over the donation you guys generously and very kindheartedly collected, for which I have already apologized. However, I did have a reason to have said what I did.

I personally know a student who scored 93% in SSLC, a ward of a teacher working in one of the reference institutions. The parent (single working as the other does not have fixed income) requested the authorities for possibility of a scholarship which was denied, asked for reduction in further studies' fees in same institution which also was denied. The parent has to continue to beg relatives and friends to meet the fees (as the earnings is also required to meet family expenses as well as younger sibling's studies) which I am aware is obliged by relatives. Therefore, please do not make this an issue for now because the cause is already met with.

I only wished the help you guys offer/ed in complete dedication actually gets used, I intended no offense. I once again wish you guys good health and more wealth so that the needy of our society do indeed benefit from part of it.

The best gift that one give another is THE GIFT OF EDUCATION and that is what we Aloysians have received at the hands of The Jesuit Fathers of sacred memory. Similarly The Agnesians too have benefited immensely from The Apostolic Carmel. What is good to see is that that both the Aloysians and Agnesians deem it their duty and pleasure to support their respective Alma Maters.

I had the delight and privilege to raise the centenary toast to St. Aloysius in 1980 and I did not mince words when I said that we the past students of St. Aloysius have an obligation to return to our Alma Mater in some measure for what we have received from the Jesuit Fathers.

There is presently a foundation in United States with the prime purpose of raising funds for Our Alma Mater and this Unit is active.

Hope very soon St. Aloysius will be a University comparing favorably with the Universities in the world.

That is a very noble gesture. However, do the donors know how their contribution is utilized once it is handed over to their alma-mater ? Instead, if you keep a tab on students from poor strata, performing exceptionally well in academics, who end up doing a diploma or dropping out altogether, you guys will prove a blessing to them. A dedicated scholarship could serve the purpose fittingly.

Apologies for unsolicited opinion, you guys are doing exemplary work. God bless you.
