Mangaluru, Jun 20: "The BJP unit of Dakshina Kannada district will observe the International Day of Yoga on Sunday June 21 with yoga programmes in eight centers of district," said former MLC Monappa Bhandary in a press meet held at district BJP office here on Friday June 19.
"On June 21 at 7 am, yoga programme will be organized at Akshaya Sabhabavan hall in BJP office here, and similar programmes will be organized in Moodbidri, Beltangady, Puttur, Bantwal, Mangaluru south and north centres. All are requested to join the programmes and stay healthy," Bhandary said.
On BJP's nationwide Maha Sampark Abhiyan membership drive, he said, "The maha Sampark Abhiyan resumed in the district on June 16 and 17. The volunteers of the party have shown utmost interest in the Abhiyan. Personal details of the members who registered through the missed call campaign are being collected and will later be sent to the national BJP office."
Applauding union chemicals and fertilizers minister Ananth Kumar, Bhandary said, " I thank the minister for allowing MCF to continue production of urea using naphtha till the gas pipeline is connected. This decision has provided soulution to the problems of the farmers, and a number of workers who lost their jobs are employed once again.
"The district BJP also welcomes the decision of the central government to open plastic and polymer park in Mangaluru which will provide 20,000 job opportunities to the youth of Mangaluru. The state government has to respond positively and must grant 150 acres of the required land for the project," he added.
Commenting on the recent transfer of MCC commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, he said, "Mangaluru City Corporation without a commissioner has entered into a coma, and in order to cure it, we will organize a massive protest on June 22 at 10.30 am in front of the MCC office. The protest has been called to demand appointment of a new MCC commissioner, completion of Town Hall renovation work and to provide solution to the drainage problems of Mangaluru during monsoon."
