Udupi, Jun 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) symbolically held ‘Mahasamparka Abhiyana-2015’ on Wednesday June 17 in Udupi.
State awardee Bannanje Sanjeeva Suvarna started the Abhiyan by filling the application at his home near Budnar.
Speaking to media persons, Udupi-Chikmangaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje said, “The Communist Party is a dominant and established party in China. The BJP also has a stronghold in India with crores of members. BJP national president Amit Shah has given a target of 10 crore members.”
She said, “The membership drive has exceeded our expectations. We have almost reached our target.Some criticized us for our ‘Missed Call’ campaign. Now, we are going to take the next step which is door-to-door visits and then convert it into a database. It would help to develop close bonds with party members.”
Regarding the chief minister’s comment on the Congress winning majority seats in the state in grama panchayat election, she said that CM Siddarammaiah is trying to close down all its illegal activities and scams such as sand mining mafia, lottery, and cricket betting. “The truth will be revealed in the next BBMP election,” she said.
Regarding Sushma Swaraj, Karandlaje said that it might have been an instance of misplaced humanity.
Regarding Kendriya Vidyalaya, Malpe, she said that the enrollment process had been started for students from first standard to fifth standard students at Odambadeshwar, Malpe. There is no other such school in the district.
The Mahasamparka Abhiyana will be held from June 23 to July 6. About 2 lac members have been registered as members in Udupi district.
BJP district president Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, Geethanjali Suvarna, state secretary Shyamala Kundar, Naveen Kuthyar, Veena Shetty, and Uday Kumar Shetty were present.
