Bengaluru, Jun 18 (DHNS): The State government has not issued any circular for its employees or students in government schools pertaining to observation of International Day of Yoga on June 21.
Inquiries with the Department of Administrative and Personnel Reforms (DPAR) and Health department revealed that no circular or direction had been issued on observing the Yoga Day.
Minister of State Primary and Secondary Education Kimmanne Rathnakar has said the department would not issue a circular directing government, aided or private schools to observe the event on June 21. “It is left to the schools to observe Yoga Day”, he said.
However, Higher Education department has issued a circular directing all colleges and universities to observe the Yoga day.
Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (Ayush) will be coordinating events across the State wherein National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets perform Yoga on Sunday.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate a yoga jamboree at Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru, organised by the Karnataka Olympics Association. Governor Vajubhai Vala is scheduled to preside over the valedictory function. However, the chief minister himself, unlike Prime MInister Modi, will not be doing Yoga.
