Bengaluru: Part of monsoon legislature session to be held at Belagavi

Bengaluru, Jun 12: For the first time in the history of the state, a session of the legislature is being held in two parts, one at Belagavi, and the other in the city. The monsoon session is proposed to be held for ten days at Belagavi, and for conducting business for the remaining ten days, the session would be shifted back to Vidhan Soudha.

The cabinet meeting held on Thursday June 11 decided to hold monsoon session of the legislature from June 19 to July 10 at Belagavi, and from July 13 to 24 in the city. This was stated by law and parliamentary affairs minister, T B Jayachandra, at a press conference he addressed later. He informed that the monsoon session this time will be of 20 days duration.

In response to curiosity expressed about the decision to hold monsoon session at Belagavi, he concurred that in normal course, winter session was being held at Belagavi. He hastened to add that there was nothing unique or special in deciding to hold ten days session of the monsoon session at Belagavi.

    I hope this session will urge government of india to solve the problem of boarder between karnataka and Maharastra like what they did in Bangladesh and India.
