Puttur: Free computer training programme at St Philomena College

Puttur, Jun 11: P G department of computer science of St Philomena College Puttur arranged ‘two week free computer training programme’ for the benefit of rural people of Puttur.






The inaugural function of this programme was held on June 10 at the conference hall of the P G centre. Inaugurator Seetharama Shetty, director, SKDRDP, Coorg district said, “Computer is playing a vital role in modern life. Computer education has great importance because use of computer has reached almost all spheres of life. Modern life of today includes information and contacts with people all over the world. Computer has helped considerably in achieving this.”

The president of this programme Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro, chairperson for PG studies of the college said, “Computer technology has had a deep impact on the education sector. Computers have changed the way we work in any profession. Therefore, it is important for everyone to have at least the basic knowledge of using computers.” Dharnappa Moolya, project officer, SKDRDP, Puttur taluk was the guest of honour. The coordinator of the department prof Govinda Prakash was present on the occasion. The students of the department Raksha and Ramya with their prayer song invoked on God to shower his choicest blessings. Vanitha welcomed the gathering. Raksha proposed the vote of thanks. Akshatha compered the programme. The faculty members of the department prof Praveen N and prof Sooryanarayana Bhat B extended their support in organizing the programme.

It is possible only through computer education that a person knows how to use a computer to employ it in his business, for planning and chalking out programmes, calculations and statical works. The internet helps to have contact with any one in any part of the world. Today, with the help of the internet, business has progressed very much. This is also possible with the knowledge of computer.
