Mangaluru, Jun 2: A group of four persons allegedly attacked a doctor with a heavy stone, abused and robbed him at Deralakatte here late night on Monday June 1.
Dr Titu Zachariah, who works in a private hospital in Deralakatte, was allegedly attacked by the group after dinner on Monday night.
It is learnt that Dr Zachariah was having dinner at Sagar Bar and Restaurant in Kuthar when a group of four persons approached him, introduced themselves and began a conversation. They said they too were going to Deralakatte and took the doctor in one of the two bikes by which they had come.
They took Dr Zachariah to a deserted spot behind one of the hospitals in Deralakatte and one of the four men snatched his mobile phone. The other three then grabbed a heavy stone and hit the doctor on the head and abused him, it is alleged. They robbed him of his wallet which contained Rs 1,200 cash, ATM card, Aadhaar card and driving licence, and also his gold chain weighing 18 grams. The doctor somehow managed to escape from his attackers and got himself admitted to a private hospital nearby.
A case was registered in this regard in Ullal police station on Tuesday June 2. Dr Zachariah stated in the complaint that all the four attackers spoke in Malayalam.
