Udupi: Woman from Kolkata unites with children after 16 years

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, May 29: Baby from Kolkata, who was roaming around streets aimlessly after deserting her home as a consequence of suffering from mental derangement, has finally found her home. After getting healed of her disorder with dedicated attention, care and medication provided at Vishwasada Mane (Home of Faith) at Shankarapura here, she has reunited her children after a gap of 16 years.

At the request of local people, Baby, who was found in mentally challenged condition and roaming around the roads in Shankarapura, had been taken into the care of 'Vishwasada Mane', a rehabilitation centre for mentally ill people, on February 15, 2010. Baby, because of her condition, had forgotten all about her past, and was not able to recollect anything about her family or close ones.

She showed considerable progress in response to treatments given in phases. In about two years, she regained her health completely. She expressed willingness to return to her family, but letters posted to addresses mentioned by her on December 4, 2013, and again on January 16, 2015, were returned undelivered because of improper address. Finally, a letter sent on April 17 this year after she gave another address, reached her children.

The family of Baby contacted Vishwasada Mane. On Thursday May 28, Baby's son, Dayal Maji, came from Baharampur West Bengal, with his family. Baby met her family members after 16 years, and Vishwasada Mane was filled with joy with the uniting of the mother-son duo.

It is learnt that Baby has two sons and a daughter. Dayal took her mother with him to her hometown.
