Dubai, May 20: Cyprian Fernandes from Vamadapadav parish has been elected the president of ‘Udenthichim Neketram’, Moodbidri Varado Catholic Association (MVCA), UAE, for the year 2015-16, while Elvisha from Alangar has been elected general secretary. The election was held during the association's annual general body meeting recently.
Cyprian Fernandes, a senior member of MVCA was associated with several associations of Mangaluru diocese. Earlier he has served as president of Catholic Sabha, Moodbidri varado.
The annual general body meeting started with a prayer by Vinay Pinto followed by welcome address by president Arun D'Souza. Secretary Joshve D'Souza presented the annual report for the year 2014-15. Treasurer John Rego Hospet presented financial report for the year. All the members actively participated in the evaluation carried out during the meeting.
After lunch the election process was conducted by Ullas Fernandes. First representatives from each parish were selected, and between them the new office-bearers were elected.
Addressing the gathering, outgoing president Arun D'Souza expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the former managing committee and all the association members for their partnership and support during the year.
Newly-elected president Cyprian Fernandes thanked everyone for keeping their faith in him and giving an opportunity to lead the association. He also urged all 13 parish members to strengthen the association, keeping in mind the association's main objective 'unity, love and service', so that the association can reach out to more number of needy people back home as well as in the UAE. The AGM concluded with a vote of thanks by Joshve D'Souza.
