Mangaluru, May 20: The United Muslim Organization, DK district, led by former mayor K Ashraf on Wednesday May 20 alleged that the injury certificate of the school child who was sexually assaulted in March has been leaked by Lady Goschen hospital, and that the school has been circulating it among parents claiming that no assault took place.
The child, an LKG student of Mangalore One school, was sexually assaulted on March 13 this year allegedly by Madhkar, the driver of her school van. Madhukar was arrested the same evening.
Addressing a press meet at Hotel Woodlands here, Ashraf said, "We have been demanding that the medical report be handed over to the victim's parents, but it has not been done so far. But now the injury certificate has been leaked by Lady Goschen hospital, and the school is circulating it among parents of other children claiming that there was no sexual assault and the child got hurt after she fell and grazed against a chair.
"We have also filed a complaint against the school authorities and Lady Goschen hospital in this regard," he added.
He also informed that United Muslim Organization would hold a protest against the school on May 22 at 4 pm in front of the DC's office demanding stringent action the school.
"Though several memorandums were submitted to the district administration, no suitable action has been taken against the school so far," he added.
"The school should be shut down and proper action should be taken against the school authorities. In the coming days, along with parents, we will gherao the school. A CID probe has been ordered into the case, though we did not demand for it," he said.
Allegations denied
When contacted by daijiworld, superintendent of Lady Goschen hospital Dr Shakunathala denied the allegations that the injury certificate had been leaked. "It is impossible. The injury certificate is in the custody of the doctor who examined the child, and there is no way it would leak. We are waiting for the forensic report, and once it is ready, the medical report and forensic report will be handed over together," she said.
Speaking to daijiworld, Dr Sundari who examined the child also denied the allegations and said, "The injury certificate has been handed over to the investigation officer. It is impossible that it would be leaked."
However, K Ashraf during the press meet provided media persons with a copy of the purported injury certificate in which it is stated that nail abrasion was found in the child's private parts but there was no blood stain or seminal stains. Ashraf claimed that the school has been circulating this certficate claiming that the nail abrasion was caused by the lady attender who examined her after she got hurt when falling from the chair.
