Mangaluru, May 19: "The works of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in Dakshina Kannada has become slow because of the non-cooperation of MCC members. The functioning of the MCC is not up to the expected standard and work ethics need to improve. The officials are taking things for granted because they know that they cannot be transferred," said MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
He was addressing a meeting of railway officials of Palakkad, Mysuru and Konkan railways at Netravati meeting hall in ZP, here on Monday April 18.
He slammed MCC executive engineer G V Rajasherkar for delay in shifting utilities like water pipeline and electricity transformer near the under-construction Padil-Bajal railway underbridge, which was hampering the progress of the work. He also asked the officer to complete the work before May 28.
Coming down heavily on the MCC engineers for not bringing related documents in the meeting, Nalin said, "The officials should bring documents pertaining to the subject when they attend the next meeting and set a timetable which would be helpful in carrying out development works."
Railway officials who were present at the meeting pointed out the problem of leakage in drainage pipeline placed near the railway colony near Wenlock Hospital. "Despite repeated complaints to MCC, the problem has not been solved so far. No effort has been made to solve drinking problem problems too," they complained.
Executive engineer G V Rajashekhar said, "A tender of Rs 25 lac has been invited to rectify the UGD pipeline and work will be taken up in some days. Measures will also be taken to sort out the drinking water problem."
Nalin Kumar announced that he would provide Rs 10 lac from his MP fund to construct railway underbridge at Adyar-Kemanjur. "There is also a plan to collect the same amount of fund from Mangaluru North MLA Mohiuddin Bava and MLC Ivan D'Souza in order to meet the required amount. The remaining amount should be given by the state government," he added.
MLC Ivan D'Souza, Palakkad division DRM Anand Prakash, Konkan Railway RM Bindhu Murlidharan, ADC Sadashiva Prabhu and joint commissioner Gokuldas Nayak were present on the occasion.
