Says he will tonsure his head and quit politics if his charges are proven wrong
Kolar, May 17 (DHNS): Janata Dal (Secular) State unit president H D Kumaraswamy on Saturday charged that the State government has misused Rs 1,300 crore even before the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR).
He was addressing a convention of the party workers organised in the wake of gram panchayat election in the town.“The government has misused the public money in the name of irrigation project and people,” he charged.
“Srinivaspur MLA Ramesh Kumar has said that DPR of the Yettinahole will be prepared shortly and tenders will be invited in July. But the government has already said that Rs 1,300 crore have already been spent on the project. How come such a big amount was spent without preparing that DPR or has any work been taken up in that money?” he asked.
“The government declared this project before the Lok Sabha election. It has given some part of this money to contractors and engineers. The rest of the money has been sent to the Congress high command for election expenditure. Let Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Ramesh Kumar come for a public debate if they have courage. Let them order a high-level probe. I will tonsure my head and take political retirement if my charges are proven wrong,” he challenged.
Ramesh Kumar has taken the contract of all pro-people works in the district. He falls to the feet of the Chief Minister and places a request for irrigation facility for the district during a meeting on irrigation at Vidhana Soudha. Srinivaspur people elected him to work for them, not to fall to the feet of all and sundry. He should stop this drama and demand water straightaway, he said.
“The people of the districts in the plain have requested Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade and Pejavar seer to cooperate to supply water. But Siddaramaiah and Ramesh Kumar have no will to solve the water problem. If needed, let them utilise the funds of my constituency for this project,” he stated.
Kumaraswamy said he knows Ramesh Kumar well. “He should first stop speaking lightly about me.I know him very well. He sheds crocodile’s tears. He can’t deceive me like deceives innocent people. People will teach a fitting lesson to those who are doing politics in the name of irrigation projects, in the next election,” he said.
He challenged MLA Varthur Prakash to resign from Legislative Assembly membership and confront him in the election in Kolar constituency.
MLA Manjunath Gowda, former legislators K Srinivas Gowda and Venkatashiva Reddy and others were present.
