Sharjah, Mar 31: The annaul outdoor and sports get-together of the Karnataka Sangha Sharjah was held in the Sharjah National Park on Friday, March 30.
It was attended by a large number of members and their families. The day-long programme was enjoyed by the Kannadigas with sports, games and various kind of entertainments by children, youth and elders.
Sangha president Prabhakar Ambalthere welcomed the gathering. Sports Secretary Novel D' Almeda organized various games. A drawing competition was held for children.
During the conclusion ceremony, Sangha patron Mark Dennis D'souza appealed to those gathered to bring together all the Kannadigas close to Karnataka Sangha Sharjah and to strengthen Sangha's activities.
He also expressed his appreciation to the members for their active participation in the event. President Prabhakara Ambalathere detailed the future plans and activities of the Sangha. He explained the benefits of being members of the Sangha and requested more and more Kannadigas to become the members of Karnataka Sangha, Sharjah.
In various activities conducted, of the five groups formed, the Kuvempu, Kailasam and Gubbi Veeranna groups stood first, second and third respectively.
Lenny Mark Dennis D'souza distributed prizes to children. In other categories, prizes were distributed by Mark Dennis D'souza, Jeevan Kuckian, Stanley Mathias, Shashikanth Kanangi, Raju Bhandary, Dinesh BM, Nithyanand, Vishwanath Shetty, Satish Poojary, Anand Bailoor, Ganesh Rai and other members of the managing committee.
Former president Ganesh Rai and vice president Prabhakar Shenoy also spoke in the occassion. General secretary Shantharam Achar offered a vote of thanks to all the sponsors and all those who helped and co-operated for the success of this event.
