Mangaluru, May 12: The Common Entrance Test (CET) for professional courses began all over Karnataka on Tuesday May 12.
Students were seen busy studying and making last minute preparations outside their respective exam centers, as some of their parents sat next to them, anxiety marking their faces.
"Just like last year, many students are absent for the biology exam. Exam hall looks empty, but in the afternoon the exam halls will be full as mathematics has become their main choice. Biology and mathematics exams are being held today, while physics and chemistry will be held tomorrow (Wednesday May 13)," said Sr M Shamita, principal of St Agnes PU College.
"Being absent for one or two CET exams has become a tradition of sorts. Those who want to pursue medicine appear for biology, chemistry and physics. Students who want to enter into the engineering field appear for mathematics, besides chemistry and physics," she added.
As many as 11,696 candidates have registered for the Common Entrance Test conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority in Dakshina Kannada district. The test is being held in 22 centres, out of which 11 are in the city, three at Puttur, six in Moodbidri and two in Ujire. In Udupi 4,080 candidates have registered for the exam.
