Mangaluru, May 11: The man who was stabbed following an argument between two persons at a marriage hall in Shirva, Udupi recently, passed away on the night of Sunday May 10.
Naveed Khan
Naveed Khan was stabbed with a knife allegedly by Antony John D'Souza (A J D'Souza) from Pilar on May 5. He was admitted to a hospital in Manipal and later shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru. However, on May 10 night, his condition deteriorated and he breathed his last.
It is said that Naveed had come to attend a function at Shirva marriage hall. At around 3 pm, a tempo belonging to some decorations firm was about to enter the main gate, and at the same time, A J D'Souza was going out of the gate on his scooter. As there was no space for both to pass simultaneously, Antony asked the tempo driver to reverse, and the latter in turn told D'Souza to move back. An argument arose, with neither of them budging.
As people began to gather and a traffic jam ensued, Naveed tried to intervene but in a fit of anger, Antony grabbed a knife from his scooter and allegedly stabbed Naveed.
The accused was later arrested.
Speaking to daijiworld at Wenlock hospital where Naveed's body was brought on May 11, his brother Wahid demanded justice and strict action against the accused.
"This is an unnatural death. The person who came to help has been murdered, it is just not acceptable. We are heartbroken. We want justice, and the only way justice could be done is if the culprit is hanged," Wahid said.
The accused has been booked under Sections 302, 307 and 506 of the IPC.
Kaup police are investigating.
