Las Vegas, May 2 (IANS): The much hyped boxing bout between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao is expected to bring in more money than any other fight ever.
Experts predict that between $60 million and $80 million worth of bets will be placed on the match in the state of Nevada by the time the fighters start the bout on Saturday night.
That is double the amount of money ever wagered on any previous boxing match, said Jay Rood, vice president of race and sports at MGM Grand, where the fight will be held, reports wvtm13.com.
"The number of wagers we've seen is just unprecedented. We haven't seen this before on any fight," said Rood.
MGM Grand also received a huge $500,000 wager on Pacquiao on Friday afternoon.
Reportedly, wagers are being placed on Pacquiao winning, but more money is on Floyd Mayweather.
Prior to this, a 2013 fight between Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez was the biggest in terms of bets, with about $25 million riding on that bout, Rood said.
