Kasargod, Apr 30: The mortal remains of young doctors, Dr Irshad from Kasargod, and Dr Deepak Thomas from Kannur, both of whom lost their lives in the earthquake which shattered Nepal recently, were brought to their native places, after which funeral was conducted.
Both their bodies were brought to New Delhi from Kathmandu in air force plane. From there, they were brought to Bengaluru in special flight, from where they were brought here by road.
The body of Dr Irshad was delivered at the family's residence at Anebagilu here at about 9.35 am today. Hundreds of people had been waiting since early morning today to pay their last respects to the departed soul. The body was kept for only a few minutes for the people to pay respects. MLA, N A Nellikunnu, former minister, C T Ahmedali, district collector, P S Muhammed Sagir, Khader Mangad and various political, religious, and other leaders were among those who were present to pay their last respects.
The body was thereafter buried in Nellikunna Jumma Masjid, after religious rituals.
Dr Deepak's mortal remains reached his home at about 10.15 am. Here too, large number of people had gathered to pay homage to the young doctor. MLA, Sunny Joseph and several political bigwigs were present. Thereafter, funeral rituals were performed at Sr George Church in Kalagam.
