Doha: Nachom-ia Kumpasar’s Palomi Ghosh to perform live at May Queen Ball

Doha, Apr 27: Palomi Ghosh, the lead actress of National Award winning film 'Nachom-ia Kumpasar' will perform live during the 15th Annual May Queen Ball to be held on May 7 at the Radisson Blu Doha from 8.30 pm onwards.

Palomi Ghosh is an Indian actress who discovered acting through theatre electives at North Carolina State University that encouraged exploring acting in Bollywood. She has been part of an Australian film called ‘The Waiting City’, an Indo-American movie called 'Gandhi of the Month' starring Harvey Keitel. She has done advertising work in Mumbai for brands such as Tanishq, SBI, Idea etc. She is also a theatre professional currently working on a play called 'Club Desire' directed by Sunil Shanbaug which is an adaptation of Carmen the opera. She played the part of Dona in the national award winnig film 'Nachom-ia Kumpasar'.

To add more glamour for the 15th anniversary of May Queen Ball, the charming, tall, handsome and one of Bollywood's youngest actors Tanuj Virwani will do the honour of crowning the winner. Tanuj Virwani is the only son of actress Rati Agnihotri. Tanuj Virwani started his Bollywood career with 'Luv U Soniyo', a Hindi movie in 2013 opposite Miss India 2010 Neha Hinge and next appeared in 2014 film Purani Jeans directed by award winning director Tanushri Chattrji Bassu opposite Izabelle Leite and Aditya Seal. He acted with his mother Rati Agnihotri in the film 'Purani Jeans'.

The highlight of the event will be crowning of the 15th May Queen with fabulous prizes in gold, airline tickets, electronic items and much more, says Goan Welfare Association president Simon D’Silva. Luizinho Faleiro, president of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) and former chief minister of Goa has consented to be the chief guest. Director of 'Nachom-ia Kumpasar' Bardroy Barretto will be flown in to Qatar from New Delhi soon after receiving the three national awards from the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. As in the past, the Goan leaders from different countries are expected to grace the occasion, says Simon D’Silva.

Forefront, the most celebrated and Goa’s number one band will be another highlight of the show along with DJ Glorio and compere Updesh Swar. The judging panel will be headed by M S Bukhari, managing director of Satco Group and will be coordinated by Archie D’Mello, former office director of Qatar Airways.

The Goan Welfare Association has been the voice of Goans living in Qatar for the last 15 years without any doubt. Superbly led by the multi-talented Simon D’Silva along with his dynamic team, the association has rendered yeoman’s service in nurturing Goan culture and spirit among the large number of Goan expatriates. On a larger note the association has always been in the forefront of reaching out to various causes back home, thus setting a shining example to all. It is therefore not astonishing to see them host events with great aplomb and success over the last one and half decade. The association is known not only for meticulous planning but also perfect execution and the annual May Queen Ball has been the true example for this.
