Udupi, Apr 21: The police on Tuesday April 21 arrested a man in connection with the murder of his brother Prakash Acharya that place in the wee hours of Monday April 20.
Umesh (28), brother of Prakash, was arrested at Manchi in Manipal.
It is learnt that based on information provided by the locals, the police arrested him from his friend's house where he was said to be hiding.
He will be produced in court the same evening.
The incident took place in the wee hours of Monday, after a fight erupted between the two brothers. Prakash who was planning to construct a house had been demanding money from his mother Indira and brother Umesh, and while fighting over this issue, Umesh in a fit of rage allegedly attacked Prakash with a wooden stick. He breathed his last sometime later.
Police sources said that Prakash had been a rowdy sheeter who was accused in the murder of Sadashiva Acharya in 2002 and three others cases in Malpe police station.
Malpe police are investigating further.
