Mangaluru, Apr 20: St Ann's College of Education (autonomous) conducted a two-day 'citizen training camp' at St Agnes Special School premises from April 16 to April 18.
The objectives of the camp were to have a community living exposure, imbibe the importance of social service and develop dignity of labour, civic qualities and a secular outlook.
A number of resourceful sessions were held for the students and resource persons were invited to talk on sessions like flag hoisting, safety precaution and first aid, traffic rules, code of conduct while singing the National Anthem, bringing out hidden talents, holding camp fire and much more.
Both the days began with an energetic nature walk at 5.30 am, followed by the various activities planned for the day.
The chief guest for the valedictory programme was Purushotham Poojary, physical director, Gokarnatheshwara Degree College, Mangaluru who gave an inspiring talk on how students need to develop their overall personality and blossom as creative teachers.
The camp was coordinated by Suresh Kumar, physical director and Dr Vijayakumari SN, associate professor, St Ann's College of Education, Mangaluru. The camp was headed by Namrata Naik as the student camp leader and Shwetha Gowda as an assistant camp leader.
