Mangaluru, Apr 20: On Sunday April 19, an impressive 'Horekanike' procession was led to Ullal Uroos on behalf of Congress party workrs by former union minister, B Janardhana Poojary.
The procession, which hit the streets at Nehru Maidan in the city reached Ullal Dargah, where Uroos is being held once in five years. Poojary initiated the procession at Nehru Maidan.
Over 1,000 muras of rice and other things were offered for the Uroos on behalf of Congress activists and Kudroli Lord Gokarnanatheshwara Temple.
Speaking on the occasion, Poojary said that people from all religions take part in the holy Uroos being held at Ullal Dargah, which has always held high the principles of peace and harmony, and which happens to be a place of worship for the people of all faiths. He said that Horekanike was being offered for the Uroos, in tune with a practice that has been followed since long.
MLA, J R Lobo, president of Kudroli Temple managing committee H S Sairam, treasurer Padmaaraj R, city corporators Lanslot Pinto, Prakash Salian, Radhakrishna, Deepak Poojary, Kavita, Shylaja, Rathikala, Nagaveni, Appi and Praveen Alva participated. Leaders like Vijay Kumar Shetty, A C Bhandary, Ishwar Ullal, Vishwas Das, Hakrishna Bantwal and Suresh Ballal were also present.
