Kundapur, Apr 18: The incident in which an elderly woman was found dead in a well-known lodge in the town on Wednesday night has acquired a new twist. It is said that the deceased woman's daughter living in Mumbai went missing along with her two children at the same time the suspected youth from Mumbai who had come to the lodge in town disappeared.
On Wednesday evening, Lalitha Devadiga (60) from Mumbai had been found dead in a room hired by Azhar Afzal Khan alias Ajay Babu (36) said to be from Mumbai. The circumstances under which the woman died and reasons behind her death remain mysterious. Azhar, who had left room ostensibly to call a doctor to treat Lalitha, never came back. On Thursday morning, the policemen found that his cell phone had crossed into Maharashtra.
Interestingly, it has now been found that Shobha alias Vaishavi, daughter of Lalitha, who lived in Mumbai, also disappeared with her two daughters. Before leaving home, she had called her husband, but he had not received the call. It is said that after sometime, she sent a message to her husband's mobile phone, which read, 'I miss you'. Although her elder brother's house is located nearby, she had not let him know of her plans.
The fact that the youth and the victim's daughter, both of whom could have provided crucial leads, have gone missing, has complicated the case. Lalitha's son from Mumbai came to the town and visited the spot of his mother's death on Friday evening.
In the meanwhile, investigation is progressing, and it is said both the missing persons are in the outskirts of Mumbai. The police hope to nab them and reach to the bottom of the case soon.
